Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki can be translated into "Rei", meaning Universal Power, and "Ki", meaning Life force energy. Reiki is used by a practitioner who has been attuned to the powerful symbols that awaken a practitioner's ability to give energy healing for the purpose of removing blockages that lay within the energetic field of the body. This energy can be within the Chakras, the Aura, or anywhere there has been an injury or stored trauma.
The practitioner can move energy within the field, clear energy out of the field, and replace energy with Universal energy for the receiver. This can sometimes be felt as vibration, heat, cold, or no sensation at all. There is no action the receiver needs to do or take. The energy knows where to go.
A Reiki session is usually done within an hour and the receiver remains fully clothed throughout the session. The receiver usually feels more peaceful and light after a session. There are times during an initial clearing when one may leave feeling emotional and may laugh or cry more than normal for a short time. This is a positive sign and nothing to worry about. Reiki is very soothing an can help with anxiety and nervousness as well as physical pain.
Kelly received her 200-hour Yoga certification in 2008 from KC Fitness Link, which is in the lineage of the White Lotus Foundation. She received her Advanced Yoga certification in 2019 from Pose by Pose Yoga.
Kelly is an avid Yogini. She honors her personal practice and is passionate about sharing her practice with others!
Kelly’s yoga philosophy is living beyond asana (poses). She has been able to integrate yoga philosophy with personal coaching and training in a business setting over the last 9 years as well as teaching yoga classes.
Kelly’s favorite things about yoga are the noticeable and palpable side effects that one experiences after practicing. One does not have to be a seasoned practitioner to feel the positive impact yoga has on life.
Kelly’s teaching method helps maintain a body in a rest-and-reset state rather than putting it into fight-or-flight. When the body feels safe within movement, it leaves an opportunity for union of the mind, body, and soul.
